A Night Out in Yerevan

A Night Out in Yerevan

Yerevan’s nightlife is quite lively any night of the week. Many times I have found myself meeting a friend for a cocktail on a Tuesday night. Something I would think twice about if I was in the US. The atmosphere of Yerevan is very laid back for a capital city. Most people are not rushing around as in most major cities. People look forward to spend their night socializing with one another and forgetting about their cares of the day. Each bar, lounge, and club has its own very distinct feeling, but there are three places that I always go back to because the cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere is unmatched.

  1. Kong

I fell in love with Kong from the moment I walked through the doors. It has such an eclectic feel with influences from Bali to Miami with a Yerevan touch. The music is always set to elevate your mood without it being a distraction. Kong is the place that people get dressed up to go to and to be seen. Sometimes that type of environment can be intimidating, but somehow it does not come across that way. People are simply just enjoying their lives. The bartenders are some of the best in Yerevan. I get a different cocktail every time, but every time I am impressed by how delicious it is. The food is also just as good. The Southeast Asian cuisine perfectly pairs with the exotic drinks. I truly love it here and make it a point to go whenever I am in Yerevan.

  1. Minas

Minas is a part of the Collective which also hosts the coffee shop, Afrolab and the restaurant, Gallia. It is designed in a way that allows you to mingle throughout the whole space. Maybe you want to start the night with dinner and then have a nightcap to finish it off or maybe you want to start the other way around. Either way it is a great place to spend an evening. The bar, Minas, gets its name from the 20th-century Armenian painter: Minas Avetisyan. Not only is the name inspired by the artist, but so is the artwork and decor that sprinkled throughout this spot. Every time I am here I take everything in as it is a full sensory experience. Make sure you have plenty of time to lounge around and slowly sip your cocktail.

  1. The Bird Cage

The Bird Cage is a high energy environment filled with eclectic decor and loud beats. The cocktails and the cuisine are a French-Polynesian fusion that is different and unexpected. The bartenders match the vibe as they are there to liven up the mood. This is a place to socialize and have a good time. It is not a place to be a wallflower as it is also quite small. Every time I go I notice a new detail in the décor which keeps me intrigued. This is the best taste of Yerevan’s vibrant nightlife while still remaining sophisticated.
