Get a Little Rest and Relaxation in Tsaghkadzor

Located just an hour north of Yerevan lies a beautiful spa town. It is known all over Armenia as a health retreat. During the winter you can go skiing and during the warmer months you visit the different spas. Tsaghkadzor means valley of flowers so as you can imagine it is quite beautiful during the spring and summer months. Your main objective when coming to Tsaghkadzor is to relax. I am not sure about you, but planning trips stresses me out so I have gone ahead and created a small itinerary for you. Here are my recommendations for visiting Tsaghkadzor.

Where to Stay

When I travel I like to fully immerse myself in the experience of being in the place. In other words, I want to feel like I live there.
There are quite a few hotels to choose from, but I would recommend renting an apartment from Airbnb. Since this is a resort town most of the rentals are designed to be welcoming to guests.

What to Eat

There is a darling restaurant called Yasaman. The décor is modern, but pays special tribute to the traditional Armenian motifs and style. It is authentic while still welcoming to all international travelers. The menu is expansive and incredibly delicious, but my favorite is the hot halva with ice cream.

How to relax

The Marriott in Tsaghkadzor is the perfect place to relax. There is a giant indoor pool, and whirlpool. The Italian-class spa has services like: body wrap, paraffin hand treatment and different massages. Make sure you book your appointment in advance.

What to Do

Aside from going skiing, eating, lounging, visiting monasteries etc. there is a cultural festival that takes place in January. This festival is a performance of traditional song and dance. The company Folklore Festivals takes all of the planning and guesswork off your hands. They offer a 6 day (5 night) package for $140 euros. The hotel, performances and food is all covered for this fee.

Even if you only have a limited time in Armenia, I would highly suggest that you visit the beautiful valley of flowers, Tsaghkadzor.
